Qoqoq provides executive level expertise to enhance the outcomes and effectiveness of Indigenous institutions, organizations, and leaders. Qoqoq will guide excellence in aspirations to meet their respective goals and to contribute ideas aimed at improving the quality of life for the Indigenous people they serve.​

Qoqoq also supports non-Indigenous corporate, public sector, and non-profit organizations operating in areas such as health, education, social development, business, and philanthropy to better serve Indigenous peoples, realize their social responsibility for inclusion at all levels, and to implement meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities or organizations. Qoqoq can help non-Indigenous clients identify and dismantle the harmful status quo that supports Indigenous-specific racism and upholds settler colonialism. 

Qoqoq’s Story

Qoqoq Consulting was established by Joe Gallagher in 2020. Joe’s experience and expertise made it possible for him to see and understand the ways that Indigenous-specific racism and settler colonialism were and are still operating and how this prevents meaningful advancement on Truth and Reconciliation. Now, Qoqoq Consulting is a thriving company with blended team of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people supporting our work with clients to understand and create relational accountability and make meaningful change.

How We Work

Qoqoq is not business as usual. Our work is grounded in Coast Salish teachings, protocols, customs, and laws.​

We are a team of Indigenous and Non-Indigenous leaders dedicated to working with individuals and organizations seeking to decolonize their practices, address Indigenous-specific racism, and advance meaningful reconciliation.

How Coast Salish Ways Influence Qoqoq’s Work

We have been guided by Siem Te ta-in, Uncle Shane Pointe, a proud Coast Salish – xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Knowledge Keeper, who has gifted us with important teachings that we integrate into our work. When needed as part of our work with clients, we incorporate Coast Salish protocols in the design and delivery of our approach to achieve the desired outcomes of our clients.

About The Logo

In ʔayʔajuθəm (pronounced Ay-A-Ju-Thum), Qoqoq translates to “White Owl”.​ Elsie Paul, a Tla’amin Elder shares her history where there was a healer who was helping a man who was not well. The man had lost his spirit from grieving the loss of his son and without recovering it he would soon die. After proper preparations were carried out it was Qoqoq, the White Owl, acting as a messenger between the spirit world and the living world, who brought back the grieving man’s spirit which returned to him his energy and his life.​

The spirit of the White Owl has significant meaning for Qoqoq Consulting. ​We honor and hold the spirit of the White Owl in this way: The medicine of Qoqoq is about opening our eyes. To see beyond the ordinary. To find a path through the darkness of confusion, misunderstanding, and shadows. It is about wisdom, intuitive knowledge, and being able to see with clarity beyond fear and illusion.

The Artist for this logo is Makeala Gallagher, Joe’s niece who lives in Tla’amin and was 15 years old when she produced this work. Joe asked Makeala for an image to be a reminder that the work of Qoqoq is for the next generation and the future generations to come.
